Our Story & Approach
Aurora Sussex Home Care is a locally owned home care agency serving Calgary and its surrounding communities. Founded by a former Alberta Health Services (AHS) staff member and public health professional, we leverage a deep understanding of local healthcare systems and a heartfelt commitment to delivering dependable, compassionate care right to your doorstep.

A Message From Our Founder
“As a former AHS staff, I spent my career inside Alberta’s health system. Time and again, I watched families leave the hospital with a discharge date and a list of phone numbers — unsure of who to call or what kind of help their parent truly needed. Too often, they were left to navigate a complex care transition completely alone.
I founded Aurora Sussex Home Care to close that gap. We bring public health training and RN oversight into the home, so families can count on care that is both kind and clinically sound.
Our agency is built around the rigorous standards of safety, infection prevention, and risk management that our provincial healthcare system demands. To deliver on that commitment, we personally manage every detail of your care plan — from the initial assessment and direct supervision of Health Care Aides to meticulous medication oversight and timely clinical escalation.
We are not a distant corporate franchise. We are your Calgary neighbours.
Our commitment to your family is deeply personal, and our promise is simple: We deliver the exact standard of nurse-supervised home care we would demand for our own parents.”

01 / OUR APPROACH
Our mission
To elevate home health across Calgary through heart-led, compassionate care guided by clinical expertise. We combine dedicated caregiving with Registered Nurse oversight and public health safety standards to protect dignity, foster independence, and bring peace of mind to your home.
02 / OUR APPROACH
Our vision
To be the Calgary agency families are referred to when the care needed is more than a companion can provide and less than a facility should require.
03 / OUR APPROACH
What we stand for
Heart-led compassion
Care is never transactional. We enter every home with kindness, respect and a gentle touch, so clients feel seen, heard and valued at every stage of their health journey. We treat your family like our own.
Clinical safety and vigilance
Backed by direct RN oversight and public health standards, we build a proactive safety net around your loved one. We do not just manage daily tasks. We monitor, assess and protect their wellbeing.
Trust and integrity
The health care system can overwhelm families. We act as a clear and honest guide through every transition, so you always know what is happening and why.
04 / OUR APPROACH
What RN oversight means for your family
Every client begins with a free in-home assessment by a nurse. From there, your care plan is overseen by an RN. It sets out exactly what your caregiver will do, and our nursing team confirms each caregiver is competent in those tasks before the first visit.
After care begins, our nursing team reviews the plan at 30 days and then every quarter, or sooner if anything changes. We make unannounced supervisory visits, review visit records every month, and keep a nurse available to caregivers during every shift. If something changes in your loved one's health, the right person hears about it quickly
05 / OUR APPROACH
The people who come to your door
Our caregivers are employees of Aurora Sussex, not contractors. That means we train them, supervise them and stand behind their work. Every caregiver completes a criminal record check with a vulnerable sector search, reference checks and a documented orientation. Health Care Aides are registered with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta.
